Buy Nova if

The entry point. Nova owns the under-₹700 trimmer shelf on Indian marketplaces almost by default, and the NHT range is the machine an enormous number of Indian men buy first. Judged against a Philips it is not close — blades dull inside a year, runtime claims are optimistic, and spares effectively do not exist. Judged against the price, it does what it needs to: it cuts hair, it charges, and if it dies in eighteen months you have lost ₹500. That is a legitimate purchase for a student or a spare travel machine, and we rank it on those terms rather than pretending it competes upward.

Nova service, AMC & customer care

Nova's service network is rated limited in our assessment. That means coverage in India is genuinely limited. Before buying, confirm that a technician serves your area and that replacement filters can be delivered to your pin code — an appliance you cannot service or re-filter is a poor purchase at any price.

Before buying, check one thing the specification sheet will not tell you: whether replacement combs, blades or foils for the exact model are actually purchasable in India today. A Nova device with a lost comb and no spares route is a dead device, and that — far more often than a motor failure — is how grooming machines end up in a drawer.

  • Raise service requests through Nova's official website only. Third parties advertising "authorised Novaservice" frequently have no brand relationship, charge more and fit non-genuine parts.
  • Always insist on a ticket or complaint reference number, and note the promised response window.
  • Keep the purchase invoice and the model number. Grooming warranty claims are almost always settled by replacement rather than repair, and the invoice is the only thing that decides it.

Nova is a budget brand that is genuinely fine under ₹1,000 and a poor choice above it. Nova sells the cheapest usable trimmers in India, and at ₹600-900 there is very little else that works at all. Within that band the blades cut, the battery lasts a year or two, and nobody expects more. Buy it if: your budget is genuinely under ₹1,000 and the alternative is no trimmer. Look elsewhere if: you are spending over ₹1,200 — philips, syska and vgr all out-build nova there.

It depends entirely on the blade. Self-sharpening blades need no oil and no replacement, so running cost is genuinely zero for four to five years.
